What Cruise?
- Departure Port: Los Angeles / Long Beach (it's the same physical location but might be named differently depending on cruise line)
- Cruise Ship: Carnival or Norwegian
- Destination: Mexican Riviera (some combination of Catalina Island, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo, Mazatlan, La Paz and Manzanillo depending on itinerary)
- Budget Goal: Less than $300 specifically for the Interior Cabin class to keep this affordable
- Food, drinks and entertainment are all inclusive but there are additional costs if you want extra amenities like alcohol
What Identification?
Required identification from best to acceptable:
- Passport
- Passport card
- Enhanced Drivers License (Arizona does not offer this type of driver's license)
- Both a government issued photo ID (Driver's license [either Real ID or standard], Military or state ID card) and your birth certificate (original or official copy)
What Cabin Class?
Cabin Classes (best choice is usually the balcony or obstructed view balcony):
- Interior
- Oceanview
- Balcony
- Suite
It is generally okay to allow the cruise line to select your cabin based on the class you choose to save money. There is a risk of low privacy, high noise and/or high motion cabins.
Sharing?
Sharing a Cruise Cabin considerations:
Cruise cabins are small for even two people
Divide storage locations for each occupant
Decide on if there is an option to have sex in the room:
- Go to their room instead
- Couples, no sex for the duration of the trip
Decide on who sleeps in the third and/or fourth bed:
- This can be on rotation unless specific people are fine with the extra beds
Decide on lights out time
Decide on bathroom times in the morning
Keep your clutter to a minimum at all times
Decide on if you want a drink package upgrade (Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Carribean):
- All adults in the cabin are required to have the alcoholic drinks package which will be at least $50/person per day
- All adults in the cabin are required to have the soda package which will be at least $8/person per day
Decide on if you want a dining package upgrade (Norwegian and Royal Carribean)
